Terms & Conditions: Device Repairs

Effective Date: 29 Nov 2025

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before using the device repair services provided by Bendigo Smartphones (“we”, “us” or “our”). By booking a repair, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Service Booking & Information

  • Accurate Information: You are responsible for providing accurate details about the device and its faults. We are not liable for issues arising from misinformation (e.g., failing to mention previous water damage, prior third-party repairs, or software modifications).
  • Device Access: You agree to provide the device passcode or unlock the device for testing purposes. If you cannot provide access, we may not be able to fully test the device, which may limit the warranty we can offer on the repair.
  • Sim Cards & Accessories: Please remove all SIM cards, memory cards, and cases before handing over your device. We are not responsible for the loss of accessories left with the device.

2. Estimates & Pricing

  • Quotes: Any price quoted upon check-in is an estimate based on visible faults. If our technicians discover internal damage requiring additional parts or labour, we will contact you for approval before proceeding.
  • Right to Decline: If the revised cost is higher than the estimate, you have the right to decline the further repair. A standard diagnostic/labour fee may still apply for the time spent investigating the issue up to that point.
  • Payment: Full payment is due upon completion of the repair and collection of the device. Devices will not be released until payment is made.

3. Critical Risks & Acknowledgments

By handing your device over for repair, you explicitly acknowledge the following risks:

  • Loss of Data: While we exercise the utmost care, data loss is always a risk during repair (especially with motherboard or software issues). You are solely responsible for backing up your data (photos, contacts, apps) before visiting us. Bendigo Smartphones is not responsible for any loss of data.
  • Loss of Water Resistance: If your device was originally water-resistant (IP rated), this resistance will be compromised or lost once the device is opened. We cannot guarantee water resistance after a repair.
  • Manufacturer Warranty: Our repairs are performed by third-party technicians. Engaging us will void any remaining manufacturer warranty (e.g., Apple or Samsung warranty).

4. Our Warranty

We offer a 6-Month Warranty on general repairs, covering parts and workmanship.

  • Exclusions: This warranty does not cover physical damage (cracks), liquid damage, or issues unrelated to the specific part we replaced.
  • Voiding: Modifications or repairs attempted by anyone other than Bendigo Smartphones will immediately void our warranty.
  • Note: Microsoldering repairs are subject to a separate Warranty Policy.

5. Turnaround Time

We aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible. However, turnaround times are estimates only. Delays caused by part availability, shipping, or unforeseen technical complexities are not grounds for a refund or compensation.

6. Uncollected Goods

If your device is ready for collection and remains uncollected or unpaid for 60 days after we have notified you, Bendigo Smartphones reserves the right to dispose of or sell the device to recover costs. This is in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 (Vic) regarding disposal of uncollected goods.

7. Cancellation & Refunds

  • Cancellation: You may cancel the repair at any time before the work is completed. However, a labour fee may be charged for diagnostic work or parts already consumed up to that point.
  • Refunds: We do not offer refunds on completed repairs for a "change of mind." Refunds or re-works are provided only where the repair fails to meet the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (e.g., faulty part).

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bendigo Smartphones is not liable for:

  • Incidental, indirect, or consequential damages (including loss of business, revenue, or data).
  • Any pre-existing faults that worsen during the standard disassembly process (e.g., "Touch Disease" on logic boards).

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Victoria, Australia. Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

10. Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these terms without prior notice. The latest version will always be available in-store and on our website.
